شکار هواپیما را نمی‌شد دید، ولی به شکل بادبزن بالای سر و پشت بمب افکن‌ها گروه‌بندی شده بودند. ناگهان تعداد خیلی زیادتری هواپیما از لای نور درخشان آفتاب بیرون آمدند. یک نفر از افراد گفت: «بیست و یک هواپیما در مقابل دویست‌تا. این یک قهرمانی نومیدانه است.»
